Entities: Visualize and Manage Ownership Across Your Portfolio

Written by Martin

Track who owns what across your portfolio with Vyzer’s Entities tool.

The Entities section lets you create and manage the people, trusts, LLCs and companies that hold your assets and liabilities, draw how they own each other, and record how much of every item each one holds. Your portfolio, reports and cash flow then follow that structure.

Where to Find It

Click Entities in the left-hand menu, between Vault and Community, or go to app.vyzer.co/entities. You can also manage the list under My account, then Preferences, then Entities management.

What You Can Do with Entities

Visualize Your Ownership Tree

The Entities graph shows each entity as a node and each ownership link as a line between them. You can:

  • Drag nodes to reposition them. Your layout is saved.

  • Zoom in and out, pan around, or click Fit to screen.

  • Lock the canvas to prevent accidental edits.

  • Click Rearrange structure to lay the tree out again automatically.

  • Click Export structure to download the whole graph as an image, handy for advisors or tax planning.

Add and Edit Entities

Click Add entity on the graph, or add one from the list view. For each entity you can set:

  • Name and description

  • Type: Individual, LLC, Corporation, Trust, Foundation or Other. For an Individual you can also record their relationship to you, such as Spouse, Child or Parent.

  • Color, for easier identification

  • Default: the entity Vyzer pre-selects whenever you add a new item

Click any entity to edit it or delete it. When you delete an entity, the items it held on its own move to your default entity, and any share it had in a jointly held item is removed. Nothing disappears from your portfolio.

The number of entities depends on your plan: 2 on Starter, 5 on Plus, 10 on Premium and unlimited on Elite.

Connect Entities to Each Other

To show that one entity owns another, drag from the owner to the owned entity on the graph, then enter the percentage it holds. Click a link at any time to change or remove the percentage. Vyzer will not let an entity own itself, create the same link twice, or form a loop.

Assign Items to Entities

Every asset and liability belongs to one or more holding entities. To set this:

  • When you add an item, choose its holding entity on the value step. Your default entity is pre-selected.

  • On any item’s page, open the Info tab and scroll to Ownership. Click Add holding entity to add another owner and give each one its percentage. The total cannot go above 100%. If it is below 100%, Vyzer shows how much is not assigned to any of your entities.

  • To move many items at once, use Bulk edit.

Click an entity on the graph to open its detail panel, where you can see every item it holds, and its share of each one, and jump straight to any item.

View Your Portfolio as an Entity

Use the Viewing as selector at the top of the page, next to Filters, to look at your portfolio through a single entity. You will see only the items it holds, valued at its share, including anything it owns through the entities below it in the tree. Choose All entities to go back. From an entity’s detail panel, View as this entity does the same in one click.

The Balance sheet and Entity structure reports also let you pick which holding entities to include. Events on a jointly held item show how the amount is split by ownership.

Designed for All Devices

Entities works on desktop and on mobile browsers, including iOS Safari and Android Chrome. On mobile, use the menu at the top right to open the list view, fit the view, rearrange the structure or download it.

Create a Structure Report

Go to Reports and open Entity structure. Choose which holding entities to include, or keep Include all entities, then click Download structure to save the chart as an image. Perfect for advisors, partners, or reporting. The download is available on Plus, Premium and Elite plans. On Starter you can download a sample.
